Terms of use
The terms of the record.
Effective August 12, 2026
Agreement
These terms govern your use of The Persistent Self, published by Ididia Serfaty ("publisher"), located in California, United States. By using the app, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. OpenAI's terms separately govern your use of ChatGPT and its text, file, and image features.
What the app provides
The app provides a guided self-examination, one-question follow-ups, editorial documents, a future portrait, and tools to print or download your record. The finished material is interpretive writing based on your answers. It is not a verified biography, prediction, psychological assessment, medical service, legal service, or professional advice.
Eligibility
You must satisfy the age and account requirements in OpenAI's terms. The app is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian should supervise a teenager's decisions about personal answers and photographs when appropriate.
Your choices and responsibility
- Provide only content and images you have the right and permission to use.
- Do not submit payment-card data, health records, government identifiers, credentials, passwords, access keys, one-time codes, or unlawful material.
- Review generated text and images before printing, publishing, or sharing them.
- Do not present generated future events, achievements, quotations, or portraits as independently verified facts.
- Respect other people's privacy when naming them in answers or exported records.
Emotional content
The app asks direct questions about failure, relationships, regret, death, and the future. You may skip any question, stop, or clear your answers. The app is not crisis support or mental-health care. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource.
Content and permission
As between you and the publisher, you keep the rights you hold in your submitted content and exported record. You give the publisher only the limited permission needed to process that content for the action you request. OpenAI's terms govern rights and permissions for content processed in ChatGPT.
Availability
Text and image features depend on your ChatGPT plan, usage limits, workspace settings, and regional availability. Features may sometimes be delayed or unavailable.
Acceptable use
You may not bypass access controls, overload or interfere with the app, introduce malicious code, use another person's photograph without permission, harm another person, or use the app in violation of applicable law or OpenAI policy.
Suspension and changes
The publisher may limit or suspend access when needed to protect the app, its users, or legal compliance. The publisher may update the app and these terms. Material changes will appear here with a revised effective date.
Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided as available without a promise that generated output will be accurate, complete, available, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to rely on or share a generated record.
Governing law
The publisher is located in California, United States. These terms do not select an exclusive governing law or venue before publisher legal review; applicable mandatory law controls.
